Cubs Interested In Bobby Crosby
#1
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->The Cubs are scouting Oakland shortstop Bobby Crosby, who suddenly is expendable after the A's signed Orlando Cabrera to play short. The problem is Crosby makes $5.2 million, well above his market value, especially for the utility role he would fulfill on the Cubs<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Will they eat $5.1 million?

I agree with Ace...unless they eat 90% of that contract I don't want him.

I figured his name would come up now. A great big no thanks. What the hell happened to this guy after 2005? He's been awful.

IIRC, he has not been healthy any of the years since 2005.

Maybe they'll just release him and we can pick him up for next to nothing. Otherwise, no thanks.

I'd take him, especially if he can play anywhere else but he's only played SS. Still he's been solid there and the best defensive SS on the roster. Any offense you get from this backup infielder we could use is a bonus. Eric Bruntlett hit .212 playing 112 games for the world champs this past season.

He worked with McGwire all off-season. Then in his first at bat this spring hit a bomb. he supposedly made a lot of changes at the plate.

Fukudome for Crosby.

He's only ever played shortstop in the minors and majors. Not saying he couldn't play elsewhere, just that he hasn't. In fairness, it's because he's been a starter.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

You realize Crosby as a hitter is pretty much on par with Miles, right?

He's not close to Miles as a hitter actually, but he's a helluva shortstop and I think he'd make an easier transition to other positions than most.

Yeah a .007 difference in their career OPS isn't close at all.
