Cubs Interested In Bobby Crosby

His eye kinda sucked down the stretch. He was taking strikes on the inside corner and flailing away at pitches way out of the zone, down and away.
But yeah...a .415 SLG might be a little generous. I'll knock it down to .405 because I want all of the numbers to end in 5.

I think the Cubs messed with his approach a bit once he started slumping. They wanted him being a little more aggressive rather than taking hittable strikes, then all of a sudden he started swinging at a lot of first pitches. He really looked like the guy we first got today, just in his comfort level at the plate.

He was being more aggressive and expanding the zone as the year went along last year, and today he appeared to be taking some of those pitches he wasn't in the 2nd half. That's all.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

The trading of one bad contract for another is actually done quite often. I actually wouldn't do it, simply because of unbridled optimism...that is, Fuk could completely stun us, and turn it around. It's at least <i>possible</i>. Whereas, with Pierre, you know exactly what you're getting, which isn't much. To me, that blind hope is <i>worth</i> the extra $8 mil.

Here's my prediction for Fuk:
.275/.375/.380 5 HR, 65 RBI I'm thinking that he'll be a bit more consistent, lose some power, and be adequate in CF, but still not be even close to worth the money. Anyway, if utilized properly and not brought in to face many LHers, I think we'll pleased. I'm still holding onto my Fuk shirts, just in case, but if he slumps early, he's dead to me. I also think that he'll be traded at the deadline if he ends up lost on the bench, and we'll end up eating a ton of salary.

Well, I was trying to be generous because a. I can't believe Fuk can be as bad as he was late last season, and b. I have an inherent Cub-bias, and I want them to do well so badly, that I mentally try to <i>will</i> them to better performances. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]
That said, I truly have no idea how Fuk will do this year. Like Clapp is with Soriano, my already bad vibes toward Fuk turned into all-out hatred during last year's playoffs. So that definitely has colored my perception of him, I'm sorry to say. (btw, compared to your projections, I did lower his OPS 40 points, and his batting avg from a respectable .270 to a bench-worthy .245, so it's not like we had identical projections. Needless to say, I hope and pray that <i>you're</i> right, and I'm wrong.)
