Minor League Roundup
<!--quoteo(post=60678:date=Aug 28 2009, 11:54 PM:name=BT)-->QUOTE (BT @ Aug 28 2009, 11:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->You seem to be saying that Huseby's ceiling, if we are lucky, it a set up man, right after saying we have little to show for paying him big money. I don't think scorn is a big leap from there. If that's not what you meant, fine.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The last thing I'm going to do is start another Ace-meant-one-thing-but-was-imprecise-and-gets-his-ass-beat-by-BT thing.

Collectively, those three were the late-round targets of the Cubs that year. So I think of them as a group (as do a lot of people). And collectively, the Cubs have very little to show for them: Rundle and Anderson have done nothing, and Huseby - although dominant this year in the pen - has been very slow out of the gate, and had to be converted from being a starter.

However, I like Huseby. I think he could be a very good setup man/closer in the future. And I hope he achieves that.

That's all I was saying.

Note to self - only type out long, fully-developed thoughts in the Minor League Roundup thread.

You're probably not the only one misreading those whole, whopping two posts.

But you're sure as shit the only one who feels the need to jump all over me about it.

Rundle and Anderson only got like seventh round money. They get grouped in with Huseby because they wee all over slot, but Huseby was the only one that got any real money.

Huseby got the most, that's for sure - but Rundle got $500k in the 14th round. That's a whole lot more than wee over slot. Brett Jackson, the first round pick this year only got $972k.

The Arizona League is done.

Iowa is tied with Nashville for 2nd place in the PCL, 1/2 game behind Memphis with 8 to play.

Tennessee is tied with West Tennessee for the 2nd half division lead in the Southern League 1 game ahead of Chattanooga with 7 to play.

Peoria has clinched a playoff spot in the Midwest League and has virtually guaranteed the 2nd half division title, up 5.5 over Cedar Rapids with 7 to play.

He was with the Seattle farm system prior to this season. Spent the last 2 years pitching in High A. Cubs must have picked him up the middle of the season. He's 24 and excelling in A level ball. Nothing to get excited about just yet.

The Cubs picked him up from the Indy leagues. This dude intrigues me because he throws quite hard for a side armer. As you can tell he's a handsome man.

I found this at Seattle Sports Insider:
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->AB-D was smokin' along in the M's org with a 90+ sidearm pitch -- almost unheard of to generate that power from that angle -- and then he was derailed by a project to raise his center of gravity (to get more action on his pitches).

He immediately got injured, but since he's healthy and pitching very well right now, we assume the Cubbies let him get back to his natural Gimli-esque release point.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
