I remember the Cubs signing a highly touted 18 year old Chinese Shortstop. Is he playing in the minors?

Is Cashner getting stretched out? Why are his starts so short?

Korean, Hak-Ju Lee. He's playing in Arizona right now for the rookie league team (it's pretty much just instructional at that point). I also think he was 18 in Korean years, but only 17 in US years (they start counting at 1). Very highly touted.

I think he just throws a ton of pitches (unfortunately). High K, high BB guy.

He pitched 3 innings, walking 1, striking out 2. What's that pitch count generally going to be? 50 or 60 max? I think they just want to make sure he gets a couple innings in a row, so they have him start.

Those were low for him, IIRC. I imagine he's on a 60 to 70 pitch count at the most, but you're right, he couldn't have thrown more than 50 last night.

They often do "start" relievers so that they can get them work against the best hitters in consecutive innings, but the Cubs have said they're trying to stretch Cashner out to start. It sure doesn't look like it, though.

Hasn't he only had two bad starts lately? If the trend keeps up, I think we need to get him a kangaroo to make him feel a bit more at home.
