Esmailin Caridad will take Harden's spot in the rotation next year (unless he's included in a Peavy trade).

Anybody know about Casey Coleman? He had a nice start yesterday and I haven't really heard much about him. I looked him up and the Cubs picked him in the 27th round last year. He pitched 26 and 2/3 innings at Boise and was sent to Peoria. He pitched 23 and 1/3 innings at Peoria before getting sent to Daytona for one game.

He is going to be 22 in July, but he's making his way through the minor league system pretty quickly. I'm surprised he hasn't been on my radar yet, but he looks like a guy to keep an eye out for.

Yeah, I hadn't heard about him either. There are several guys like that who are young arms that might pop out of nowhere (McDaniel is another one I've heard a little about).

I agree with you that Harden is gone after this year and will be replaced by someone like Samardzija, Caridad, or Atkins.

Ouch. I think Jay Jackson just gave up more earned runs than he did all of last year.

From the Sunday Peoria paper:

Does anyone know why Vitters is in low-A ball?

Peoria is a full season regular A ball.

He is still only 19 years old so no problem with him being there this year. If he can go to Daytona next year at age 20 and to AA by age 21 he will be in good shape.

That seems like a mighty slow trajectory for a guy who's supposed to be a future star.
Also, if Daytona is a higher A-ball league than Peoria, wouldn't Peoria, by definition, be low A ball?

Boise is low-A. Daytona is high-A. Peoria is just A.

Boise is the Cubs' low A team. They're only a half-season team, so Peoria is just regular A ball like Fella said.

He's never played at full season.

I've also heard that the Chiefs moved Sanburg so in order to keep Pete Vonachan happy, they sent Vitters there.

Well everyone has always complained we rushed Wood and Patterson. Can't have it both ways.

I think being in AA at age 21 is a pretty good pace.

Yeah, you're probably right, Fella.
By the way, who in the hell is Pete Vonachan, and why are we screwing around with our best prospect so as to placate Mr. Vonachan?
