Brunansky and Glaus are/were very good players...definitely MUCH better than decent or average. And they're the two <i>worst</i> players of the 10 people on the list. The other 8 were all great stars.
Strawberry was not remotely overrated. He was an absolute superstar until he became a hard-core cocaine addict, mid-career.

However, teammate Pete Rose won the NL '73 MVP, and Joe Morgan won it in '74 and '75, and George Foster won it in '77.

johnny bench was the best player on his team every year. he wasn't just an offensive force, he was possibly the greatest defensive catcher of all time. no bench, no 4 pennants.

daryl strawberry led the league in home runs once, slugging once, ops once, and ops+ once....all in the same year. he never led the league in anything else ever, except maybe strike outs. he was overrated.

My point is that they weren't the best players on their own team. In fact, some of those guys played on teams where they weren;t in the top 5 on their team. Very few of those listed were make or break type players, they were good, nice role players, not much more.
