Big Papi

Ortiz went 0-7 and left 11 men on base yesterday.

He's also gone 143 ABs without a home run (dating back to the 2008 postseason).

So...off the juice?

To me there's never been a doubt. He went from a Jason DuBois-type guy with the Twins (who are notoriously excellent at evaluating players) to the best slugger in baseball, practically overnight, when he went to the Red Sox.

Manny probably said, "Hey, fellow countryman, lemme show you a little something that's always helped me..."
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

He's never looked like one who is on the juice. His age might have just caught up to him.

He's only 33. You might expect a gradual dropoff starting around now, but he has fallen off a cliff.

He's probably just too old and in poor shape to be that good anymore.

I think it's a combination of age and that wrist injury from last year more than a PED case, but you never know anymore.

The same sort of questions could be presented about Derrek Lee.

They sure could. Lee's 2005 looks a little suspicious to me.

I think the two cases would be eerily similar if not for Ortiz's build being more conducive for a breakdown. Regardless, I'm now assuming everyone is using.

There's also a guilty by association thing with Papi and Manny that Lee doesn't have.
