Don't mind me. Just stirring the pot.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Meh, he was 0-3 at the plate and they lost.

He's a Cardinal now, so I must find reasons to tear him down

Indians get the Cards' 2008 minor league pitcher of the year, Jess Todd to complete the DeRosa trade.

MLB Trade Rumors:
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Todd, 23, entered the season as the Cardinals' #4 prospect. He's pitched very well, posting a 2.20 ERA through 49 innings, allowing just 39 hits and 13 walks while striking out 59 and collecting 24 saves. Opponents are hitting just .214 against Todd this season.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Good. Though, given the dearth of talent in the Cards' system, the number 4 prospect might not be that great.

(though, I guess the Cubs' isn't too great either)

that's too bad, I always thought Todd had a place in the big leagues...

given that Glaus will no longer be around, it's even more imperative that DeRosa be resigned to anchor 3rd...

Yeah, I'm sure he's salivating at the prospect of being low-balled by Mozeliak on a 2-3 year contract just to play in Baseball City, USA.

well, I'll go ahead and estimate they'll have a 6% chance they'll give Holliday his money, so with Glaus', Greene's, and Kennedy's money off the books, they should be able to pay DeRosa alright.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->DeRosa Open To Returning To Cubs
By Mike Axisa [September 19 at 9:31am CST]

You can argue that trading Mark DeRosa last offseason set the tone for the Cubs' disappointing season, as they lost not only his .800+ OPS and versatility, but his leadership and influence in the clubhouse as well. The Cubbies might have a chance to rectify that move this winter though, because according to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun Times, DeRosa would be willing to return to Chicago's north side.

''I would definitely listen,'' said DeRosa, who was shocked and saddened by his trade to Cleveland on New Year's Eve, six months before the Indians traded him to St. Louis.

''Obviously, my allegiance lies here [in St. Louis], but once the season's over -- I have no ill feelings towards anybody over there. I enjoyed my time there. I didn't agree with the move, but I didn't have any control over it.''

DeRosa is set to have offseason wrist surgery, but he told Paul Sullivan of The Chicago Tribune that he wants to be considered a healthy player in free agency. That shouldn't surprise anyone.

"I wanted to be treated as a healthy player, and not a guy who has to go get surgery. Rickie Weeks and all these guys that have had it say it's not a big deal and they come back from it."

The Cardinals have already talked to DeRosa about a contract extension, but Sullivan says the team has decided to hold off until he has the surgery this offseason. DeRosa projects to be a Type-B free agent at the moment, and pulled in a very reasonable $5.5MM this season. Unless the Cards are really concerned about his wrist, there's no reason for them not to offer DeRosa arbitration, ensuring they'll at least walk away with a supplemental first round pick if he heads elsewhere.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I highly, highly doubt the Cards will be so glib about offering a 35-year-old fresh off of wrist surgery arbitration when the guy made 5.5 mill last year.

I doubt that DeRo signs with any team in the NL Central once he hits FA.

Don't want him back. Why is this even a story at this point?

Because Sully decided it was the easiest way to make deadline...

"DeRo, would you be upset to be back with the Cubs?"

"Ummm...no, I guess not."
