Yeah. I hate it. I understand the frustration, but booing has never helped.

That impression would be correct for the most part, or maybe the morons are just more vocal.

For the record, and I'm not proud of this, I've only booed 2 Cubs in my entire life at the ballpark. Those would be Jose Macias and Neifi Perez, and it happened at one particular game back in 2005 that we eventually won in walk off fashion. I forget which one of them got the game winning hit, but I felt pretty stupid about it afterward.

They weren't saying, "Hey George, I really love the way we decide homefield advantage." It just was never thought of as microscopically until it was determined by a meaningless game. Up until then it was just the way it was. If you think that is annoying then I don't know what to tell ya. Seems reasonable to me.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
BZ, you continue to prove my point, almost perfectly. When the game was decided by something as asinine as "every other year", people didn't really give it much thought, by your own admission. Call that what you like, indifference, tacit approval, whatever. It was only after it was changed to something marginally less random, that suddenly it was a pox on society. This is EXACTLY my point. If the current system is so bad that you are going to bitch and moan about it now, why was alternating years not bad enough for you to look at it "microscopically"?
How about an illustration. Your girlfriend moves in, and paints your room bright pink. You say nothing. A couple of months later, she paints it GLOSSY bright pink. You completely freak out and start screaming how this cannot stand. Then Butch walks in and blames it on Bud Selig.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
People weren't complaining about the previous system because it was in place for so long and it had never been altered. The fact that it has changed pisses people off because:
- it wasn't changed to something better
- the fact that it was changed shows that change is possible (but why not change it to something that makes sense?)
Here's an illustration for you.
You have a giant sculpture of a cock on top of your house. You have never cared for it, but you like everything else about the house -- location, price, square footage, etc. -- so you lived with it. Many years later, the architect comes by and says he's going to change it. This makes you happy. But he builds a giant sculpture of a scrotum in its place. This makes you mad.
Think you might bitch about it?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
that may be the funniest thing i've ever read. i swear to god, that was awesome.

i just want to go on record and say that i was bitching about the world series format forver. i never could, and still can't, figure out why home field advantage can't go to the team with the better record. it's just obvious to me.
and for the record, i don't like the neutral site format in the superbowl. home field should go to the team with the best record.

The old way (penis) was arbitrary but it was what it was. The new way (scrotum) is both not arbitrary, it's just unfair since any moron dropping a routine fly can fuck it up for one league or another.
The idea that no National League team will get home field advantage no matter how awesome their year unless the NL wins the ASG is not stupid...it's insane. Scrotum is insane...penis was just stupid.
Destiny pre-ordaned (penis) was dumb. Destiny in other people's hands (scrotum) is insane.
Controlling your own destiny (vagina) would be ideal.
