i hate the fact that the world series home field is determined by the all star game. it bothers me that an error by some douchebag on the nationals can keep the cubs from having home field even if they have the better record.
i hate the mandatory "every team must be represented" rule in the all star game. you can't tell me that the 3 or 4 national fans will have a heart attack if their team isn't represented. and who cares if they did anyway?
i hate the dh. play the field or go home.
i hate interleague play. give me more games against long time teams like the dodgers, mets, phillies, etc. do we really need to see the royals? ever?

I think your point was that maybe a town like Gary, Indiana or East St Louis might better appreciate the White Sox as their home town team, and that they really don't belong in Chicago. They should have left town back when Reinsdorf threatened to move them to St Petersburg in the late 80s/early 90s. No one would have cared.

I like having the White Sox to hate. It provides an opportunity for fierce loyalty that not even hating the Cardinals can really match. Hating a divisional rival makes simple sense. Hating a crosstown team in another league...that's hardcore...and out of towners just don't get it. I like that.

People aren't going to like mine. Many of these can be guessed by my previous 5000 posts.
-I hate it when fans seem to think that a different lineup would have made a difference in about 60 games a year. Usually all losses
-I hate it when the same people who say "this loss is on (insert managers name) roughly 40 times a year, have never once said "this win was all because of (insert managers name)".
-I hate it when GM's get blamed for not making trades that people make up in their head.
-I hate it when people get all worked up over whether or not Erik Estrada should be singing the 7th inning stretch. Who cares? The alternative is watching a commercial, like you do between every other inning.
-I hate it when people complain about the All Star game determining home field advantage when the previous determination was made by RANDOMLY ALTERNATING. It's a crappy system, but it's certainly no worse than what it replaced.
Maybe I'll post more when you guys get done ripping me a new one.

I think that both leagues should have the DH. I dont want to see pitchers trying to hit.

Just because the previous system sucked, doesn't mean this one is any better. I think it's perfectly acceptable to complain when there are viable alternatives not being used.
Here are a couple of ideas that would be far better than the current one:
- the league with the better overall interleague record
- the team with the better overall record
- the team with the better playoff record up to that point (if one team sweeps their way to the World Series, they get home field advantage)
Just something that makes it meaningful. Winner of the All Star game makes very little sense.

Yeah, I know that the two leagues aren't exactly equal, and it's easier to win 95 games in the NL West than it is in the AL East. So what? That hasn't stopped the NBA, NHL, or NFL from using the "best record" to determine home-field.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
