Sam Fuld shouldn't be a legitimate option -- not even as part of a platoon. He's a 4th OFer, at best.

I know many here didn't want him but our best option just signed with the Red Sox. Like it or not.

Maybe we can build Milton his own clubhouse away from the media and the rest of the team. Give him his own private plane rides to away games.

I think you're probably right. Which is really sad.
Sad that he was our best option to begin with. And sad that we now have to consider backup plans. A Cameron Plan B is just a sad, sad thing.

The best FA option, that doesn't mean he was the best option.

What's worse is that Byrd put up those stats in Texas, a hitter's ballpark.
Also, Byrd will turn 32 next season. Not good.
And the following was next to the stat that Coach quoted:

I want to hear what you and anyone else legitimately think Fuld's OBP would be over the course of this upcoming season if he is platooning from the left side in center field.

I don't think there's any reason to believe, if properly platooned, he couldn't put up a .350 OBP next year, and play plus defense.
A platoon between him and a healthy Reed Johnson, for example, is a FAR FAR FAR preferable option to signing Marlon Byrd to a multi-year deal.

Ace...your penchant for young boys is waaaaay disconcerting.
You're willingness to count on a .350 OBP from Sam Fuld is further proof of your age blindness. When you grow a bit, and begin to realize that age and perspective are also of value to an athlete, you'll likely have a more reasoned, well-developed view of the game...
You just need a touch more perspective...that's all.

So...
1) I'm going to continue to assume that you're counting on Sam Fuld for a .350 OBP.
2) I believe you forgot his age, and still think of him as a 25 year-old.
3) You think 30 is the new 60...

Sam Fuld isn't even a 4th OFer, he's a 5th OFer. He's fine as the 25th guy on a roster, anything more than that, he's being misused.
