If Cameron is truly our #1 target, as these supposed reports indicate, I wouldn't at all be surprised if Hendry offered him 2 years. Laugh now, but don't be shocked if/when it happens.

This is the main reason why I don't want him. I could live with him if we were to improve other parts of the team too, but we won't, so I don't want any part of him.

I don't really like Cameron... and he's starting to look old(as he of course is) in center. He'll also add to our all or nothing offense... which wouldn't bother me so much if they weren't so damn streaky. But we could do worse there. He'll at least hit 20+ bombs, drive in some runs, and have an .800 OPS. If it's 1 year, whatever. It's not like there's any more rumored(realistically) names that excite me anyway.

What the fuck... so are we just conceding not getting Granderson? Or if we could swing a deal for Granderson (who doesn't make much money this year), does Cameron become a reserve?

If they played up to their statistical pasts, that would be the most productive center fielder in baseball. So... I'd say that's ok to dream of.

and we won 83 games with ARam, Soriano, Soto, Bradley and Zambrano all missing large chunks of the season (for one reason or another). I'm not saying signing Cameron makes us a great team, but some of you guys are acting like we lost 100 games last year.

Hendry has wasted a lot of money, but if we get Cameron and Castillo, and we can avoid injuries, I doubt next year is "grim". We won't be great, but depending on what St Louis does, we could easily be the favorites again in the Central.

If the Cubs stay what's considered "healthy"(basically the complete opposite of last year), I'll be surprised if they don't win 87 or so+ games. I don't think any moves we make this offseason will make much of a difference on the performance of this team. It's all the big guys staying healthy, and Soto performing at least somewhere in between how he did over the last 2 years. I fully believe Soriano was never healthy last year, so that's why I'm not including him there with Soto. I think he bounces back to at least his career averages if he's healthy.

The idea that we're going to lose Harden and Bradley (and to a lesser extent Gregg, Heilman, and Fox), not add anything of significant productive value, and somehow be better next year is quite optimistic.

We'd be adding half a season of a healthy ARam, 2/3rds of a season of a healthy Soriano, replacing Bradley with Cameron and Harden with someone probably worse than him. I'm not saying the Yankees should be shitting themselves, but as Clapp said, it's not unreasonable to think we will be better with just the guys on our team being healthy.


Interestingly, it's 1.6 million per win for the Cubs. The team closest to 2 million per win? The Yankees. I'm guessing they aren't too embarrassed.
