Yeah, we should be so angry we didn't give up the farm for a guy that's been on the DL basically all year.

Nick Johnson is NOT a Marlin. Trade fell through. Good news for us this weekend.

You like 15 minutes ago: "Breaking news on espnews: Joe Beimel was just traded to the Rockies." "The Halladay trade just fell through." "PEAVY TO THE WHITE SOX?! That's what Olney says."

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Peavy's agent, Barry Axelrod, told Tom Krasovic that his client accepted the deal because there was no guarantee that the Cubs and Dodgers, Peavy's preferred teams, would have made a move for the righty in the offseason. "Frankly I am flabbergasted that the White Sox would want to make this deal with him in his physical condition," Axelrod said.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Agents always say stuff like this, right?

EDIT:

@BNightengale: The Chicago White Sox are paying Peavy"s entire contract according to 2 WS officials
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." - George Carlin

"That was some of the saddest stuff I've ever read. Fuck cancer and AIDS, ignorance is the scourge of the land." - tom v

Yep.

BTW, if you're not listening to B&B, tune in. You can tell that they're not quite OK with the deal, but they're trying to spin it like they think it's good.

Here's the thing too, it could turn out to be a great deal for the Sox. However, I think there's probably alot better chance this is not a good deal for them. It's a flyball pitcher, that gives up twice as many HR on the road as at home, going from the NL to the AL, that has an ERA a point higher away from his home park, that has a current ankle injury, has had a history of shoulder problems, is owed a bunch of money for the next 4 years, and has already previously turned down a trade to the team he's no going to. This could turn out bad, real bad.

And according to Bob Nightengale of the USA Today, the White Sox are paying his entire contract.
