SOI v. the LLWS
#31
<!--quoteo(post=60204:date=Aug 26 2009, 02:53 PM:name=BT)-->QUOTE (BT @ Aug 26 2009, 02:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->When I was in college, my roomate had a younger brother who was in 7th or 8th grade. He was a really good baseball player. He ended up getting a scholarship, and there was a while where they thought he might be drafted by a major league team.

Anyway, when the kid was 12 or 13 years old, my roommate kept bragging about him, and saying how I couldn't hit him, even at my age (19). His brother came down one weekend, so we actually played a little fastpitch.

He couldn't hit me, and I crushed a few off of him. And I never played high school baseball.

that settles this argument for me.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

You're nuts, dude. I don't care how good a group of 11 and 12 year old kids are at baseball. They'd be facing a group of adults -- and we could easily put together a team of 9 who have all played at a competitive level before. It would be a massacre.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

How many people on SOI played beyond 12 years of age? I'm just curious how many actually played even HS ball.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'll start a poll.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I probably just have a perception that's off base. It's happened before.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Some of those kids throw like 78. I've never thrown 78 in my life. The 1B for the Warner Robins team is bigger than me...by about 60 pounds. They're freaks.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yeah but they are throwing from 45 feet. We could throw at least that fucking hard from that distance.

From 45 feet, there's no doubt I could throw in the 70's without a problem.

In all actuality, the hardest position for us to field would be catcher, I'm not sure I could do it. Pitching-wise, we'd be more than fine.

I could probably still handle catching albeit for only a couple of innings.

I could handle catching. Hell, I could catch a double header. I'd be talking all kinds of shit to 12 year olds.

I played catcher until my sophomore year in college. I have no doubt I would destroy some 12 year old pitching. We could even use wood bats and we would win. I don't even think it would be close.

What if the team consisted of a bunch of guys like me? I could play first or maybe the outfield, but if you have Jody at short and straw at third and rapp at second and some of our big boys in the outfield and a drunken pcb pitching, how do you think we'd fare?

Who wins that game?

drunken pitching is just like drunken bowling. I'd throw a no hitter.

You'd get in a fight with the other team and Scarey would have to protect you.

How old are little leaguers again? Do we share a locker room with them?
