I think the next question is for those that played HS ball, were they any good? A few that said they had, also said they weren't anything special.

I don't think that matters. An average high school player is going to kick the shit out of the best 11-year-old. Typically, there's such a huge difference in strength and body size, that it just wouldn't be fair.

If any one of the high school players pitched and could throw off-speed stuff, the LL batters wouldn't have a prayer.

LLWS is mostly 12 and 13 year olds. Though I agree there is a definite difference. Though some of these kids are pretty big. Biggest kid is 6'2" 226.

I played high school ball but quit to run track( we couldn't do both) because I was pretty fast. I received some letters from small schools for track. However I still played Legion ball in the summer and still started even though I didn't play school ball after my freshman year. After baseball I played several years at shortstop for a damn good mens fastpitch softball team. These days I play slowpitch and play just about anywhere.

I was decent in high school, played Legion after. Local JC was interested in me, but I wanted to go away to school and I didn't bother trying out when I went away.

it's like I understand it well when other people are playing, but when I play I have an enormous brain fart...I never understood it

Its a lot different in Australia. For us its basically goes:-

Playing for Australia
Claxton Shield (State vs State)
Major League (In Sydney not MLB!)
A's
B's
C's etc

The top three are semi-pro while the other is just weekend ball. I currently play B grade, however I could play A grade if I want, but can't be bother with all the training. I did try out for Major League for a team called "North Shore", but I am a short ass - 5"8 and no Theriot.

We did have a fully professional league called the ABL which was good, but it died in the ass due to lack of funding. Hard to take off in a cricket mad country.

I played highschool ball but quit to joing the space program. Was part of the team that launched the hubble. Once hit a grand slam on the moon in a NASA beer league.

Played two years of college ball at a small school in LaCrosse, WI. Stopped playing because I wanted to graduate college in 4 years and the 20K in loans I was taking out each year were starting to bother me. There was no way I could keep up 18 credits and get out in time. BIGGEST FUCKING MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!! I miss catching so badly now.
