Harden Shut Down?
#31
QUOTE (KBwsb @ Sep 26 2009, 12:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Lackey, yes. The other guys are good, too, but not as good as Harden.

I'm curious about the "overworking the 'pen" thing though. I've always thought many of those bullpen guys would benefit from more work.
Plus, why not just consider our #5 pitcher to be Harden/Marshall, and just go in to the game knowing that one guy will give you 5 innings, and the other guy will give you three or four? Marshall has only pitched 84 innings this year; he's capable of at least double that.
When you've had as many injuries as we've had to our innings eaters like Z, Lilly and Demp, and considering that our pen was already mediocre to begin with, having a Harden on your staff struggling to pitch 5 innings is a big concern, at least in my opinion. Our #5 became our #2 for a large portion of the season as a result.

Also, Marshall blows.

This is where I'd expect Clappie to chime in with some pro-Marshall talk.
Whatever happened to Matt Clapp?
Has he quit the site?

I think he moved recently and doesn't have Internet access yet. That's what I've gathered from his Facebook updates.

Good to hear. He's a huge part of this site.
However, what weird section of the Earth did he move to where they don't have internet access? Is he pulling a Ted Kacsinski after the Cubs' inglorious fall?
