Yeah, Soto and Fontenot too.

Fat Bastard is an immensely obese, hardly able to walk (weighing a metric ton) gardener and henchman hailing from Scotland. His extreme size endows Fat Bastard with super-human strength as exhibited by his prowess in the Sumo ring from Goldmember. This makes him a formidable enemy for Austin Powers. Fat Bastard is noted for his foul temper, his frequent flatulence, his vulgar and revolting bad manners and his unusual eating habits, which include taste for Human infants (which he calls "the other other white meat") or anything that looks like a baby, e.g. small people. Fat Bastard has been a regular at Cub games since the early 80's when he tried several times (unsuccessfully) to eat the visiting San Diego Chicken.

I'm confused. Z missed "significant" time or he shit the bed? He'll have had 28 starts. Low for an ace but not way low.

Harden had some bright spots, but overall I'd say he was a let down this year.

Did the Rockies win last night? Last I checked it was 5-5. Have we been officially eliminated?

Agree that Harden had a disappointing year.
There were times in July and August that you could write down 6 innings and less than 3 ER for each of his starts. Other than Lilly, I don't know if the Cubs had another pitcher that can meet or better that performance during that timeframe.

On the other hand, remember at the beginning of the season, there was a lot of talk about spreading Harden's starts out and getting him extra days off in order to keep him fresh/healthy? He always pitches better with a little extra time off and we knew that going into the season. That plan never really materialized. He was pretty much out there every 5 games.

Yes, with a walkoff homer. Does that mean we're out?
To answer Ace's question, I think Soriano's woes were a bigger disaster than Aram's injury and injured play. An 85 OPS+ from a corner outfielder? A poor-fielding one at that.
In Alf's defense, I have no doubt that he was injured too. An he only played in 117 games.
Cub fans have sure been fucked in regards to Alf's health (<!--coloro:#FFFF00--> <!--/coloro-->"THAT'S WHY YOU DON'T SIGN OLD GUYS TO LONG-TERM DEALS !!! "<!--colorc-->
<!--/colorc-->).
But seriously...he was a freaking iron-man before he got here. In the 6 seasons before he got here, he averaged about 7 missed games played per year. Since he's become a Cub, he's missed 27 games, 53 games, and this year, 45 games.
Once again, I lament that guys like Lee and Fuk had their good years in a lost cause.

Another burr in our collective sides: we wasted a pretty darn good season from our pitching staff, especially our starting pitchers. According to the stats I'm looking at, especially ERA+, our staff is in 3rd place in the National League pitching stats (behind only the Dodgers and the Giants, two teams known for their pitching).
Side note: If Soto doesn't have a weight clause inserted into his contract for next year, someone is in dereliction of his front-office duty.

Well, for Z, I was looking as a whole
The meltdown and suspension.
Some horrible starts ( my recollection was he was pretty crappy more often than not)
27 starts so far but only 9 wins? For your ACE?
9 wins is not a stopper.
For a number 5 good season, for your ACE, he shit the bed.
He did also miss some significant time.
Harden on a whole for a 2-3-4 starter, did what he was supposed to do.
AND KEEP IN MIND:
If everyone had done what they were supposed to do we would have won 100 games no doubt.
Just think of the difference in W/L if Milty, Soriano and Soto alone had a "Normal" year.

Look at the internals. Z pitched well. Sometimes you pitch well and lose...especially if you pitch for the 2009 Cubs.

I'd put Z in the "in between" category. He had a rough April and August, but was pretty good outside those 2 months. A bit up and down and not really "Ace" material, but he certainly didn't hurt the team.
I got nothin'.

I'm pretty sure when we got him last year we were expecting him to be more than that though. That's what I mean when I say he's been a let down. Yeah, he's done alright, but he really didn't live up to the expectations. His pitched some good games this year, but there have been plenty of others where he couldn't find the strike zone, his changeup sucked, etc.
