Rogers Declares Cardinals Team of the Decade
#1
Don't know if anyone saw this in the Chicago Tribune on Sunday but Phil Rogers has declared the Cardinals the team of the decade.

His rationale is based on ... well I have no clue what the hell Rogers is using as his rationale for this claim.

It appears to have something to do with the their payroll or lack of payroll compared with the Yankees, Red Sox and Phillies but Rogers fails to compare the Cardinals payroll to other teams that have one a World Series in the last decade.

The quote of the article, <i>"It would be great for baseball if Pujols could finish his career with the Cardinals"</i>

No Phil, it would be great for the Cardinals if Pujols would provide St Louis with another significant hometown discount to sign an extension. It has nothing to do with being "great for baseball".

Can we start a petition to have Phil Rogers' tongue removed from the Cardinals organization's asshole?

It would be great for baseball if someone were to reveal how old Pujols really is and discover what magical substances are being put into Cardinals players that allow them to have career years in St. Louis and nowhere else.

I'd love it if we could get some Cubs sportswriters who are actually...I don't know...fans of the Cubs?

By the way...anyone who picks any team other than the Red Sox as "Team of the Decade" (whatever the fuck that is), isn't thinking clearly.

I don't know if the reporter needs to be a fan of the Cubs but at least the reporter shouldn't be an active advocate and fan for the Cubs' biggest rival.

In addition, neither Rogers' baseball acumen nor writing style are overly impressive.

How the hell did this jerk get this job?

I'm not even talking about Rogers, specifically. It just seems like most Chicago sportswriters are either all-out Sox fans or are ambivalent towards the Cubs. I want just one good Chicago sportswriter who is one of us. Gene Woj is close, but he isn't truly local, is he?
