Carpenter and Wainwright: They longed to be Close to Cy
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I'm probably the only male in the U.S. who thought that Karen was kind of hot.

Winning would have prompted the Redbirds to sing, sing a song.

Incidentally, the vision of her performing that tune with the denizens of <i>Sesame Street</i> pretty much explains why I was a ridiculously upbeat child. I kinda always figured that I could get out of any scrape by whipping that tune out, just knowing that Karen Carpenter and Grover would have my back.

Alas, I was ten, heading toward eleven, when she sang her last song. By then the allure of women had won out over the camaraderie of Muppets . . .
