This is crazy. If this trade isn't made, then bradley is released. Period. We actually saved some money and got rid of a cancer. Is it ideal? No, but it's better than the alternative.

Yeah but it's Hendry's doing to being with. He signed the guy. Net result is that we are down an outfielder while basically spending the same amount of money.

Now THAT I agree with. You wanna jump on Hendry for signing this douche bag, then have at it. I totally agree. But what happened today was the only thing that could have happened.

Everything can be pinned squarely on Hendry's shoulders from the beginning.
- the faulty logic that we got swept in the playoffs because we had too many RH hitters and then basing the entire offseason on that premise
- signing an insane/injury-prone hitter to a 3/30 deal
- being caught off guard that your insane OFer actually acts...you know, insane
- trashing Bradley and painting yourself into a corner so all you can trade him for is a worthless SP...that we'll pay $16M over then next two seasons (and then buy out his option for $2M)
Which part of this was Bradley's fault? That he acted like an absolute douchebag while he was here? Well, what a surprise! He acted like a douchebag in every city he has played in.

Nonetheless (and I agree with you, overall, Butch), we can blame Bradley for being a douche, too.

I guess we can. But that's like blaming a rattlesnake for biting someone who picks it up.

If Jim plays poker in the same way he handled the the Sosa and Bradley pre-trade situations:
"Hey look! I got all clovers! Is that good?"
At life, Jim is a cool, successful guy.
At being an MLB GM?
He's a fucking idiot.
Learn it. Live it. Accept it.

I will admit that Hendry has made some bad moves recently, but a fucking idiot? Come on now KB, he can't be that bad. When in your lifetime have the Cubs had back to back postseasons? When in your lifetime have the Cubs had 3 straight winning seasons? Last time I checked it was during Hendry's tenure and ONLY during his tenure.
Yes, he has made some questionable signings, but every GM makes questionable signings. At some point the blame also has to be put on the players.

When, in your lifetime, have the Cubs spent as much as they've spent on payroll since 2003?

Let the reocrd show, even though I'm somewht defending Hendry, I want him gone. He came, he tried, he accomplished nothing. Time for a new direction.

Never. But like Tommy said, the guy tried. Is this his last year, unless the Cubs have a rebound year he is gone, but he tried. Was the contract bad to Bradley...yes. But contracts backfire sometimes, it happens. I just don't understand the complete hatred for the guy.
