When was Madonna ever considered "Rock and Roll"

It's not surprising that a band who's important work predates your birth wouldn't be strong in your cultural consciousness. Can you name a Hollies song? They're going in this year and it's absurd. They're only going in for symmetry because Crosby, Stills and Young are all already in twice and Nash isn't.

I'm very ignorant on this subject, so bear with me. How can a band be in the R&R HOF twice?

That may be true, but I really like a lot of older rock music. I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock and I know and love a lot of old music such as Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors, Jimi, CCR, Steppenwolf, The Stones, and many others. I really know nothing about the Moody Blues. And you're right, I know nothing about the Hollies either.

The Byrds are in. CSNY is in. Buffalo Springfield is in. Stills and Young were in the Springfield. Crosby was in the Byrds.

Ok, I was thinking you meant the actual band CSY was in twice. Thanks.

Halls of Fame are all imperfect. In this way, Rock & Roll and baseball are similar. The criteria shifts over time...once the bar is moved...it never moves back. The Rock And Roll HOF hasn't been about just R&R in a long time. It's about popular music. ABBA isn't R&R yet I'm tickled...especially that they're going in the same class as the Stooges. Fuck yeah.

That is awesome. I wonder how that big old jam at the end would look like. Iggy going all fucking crazy while ABBA is trying to sing Take a Chance on Me. Or better yet, Bjorn rocking balls out to Search and Destroy.

The fact that the Moody Blues aren't in is a travishamockery. They are one of my favorite bands in the world.

Just wanted to say how happy I am that one of my all time favorites, The Hawk, has finally taken his rightful place in the Hall of Fame. Takes me back to being a kid, back when WGN carried most of the games... I don't have that connection to any of the players on the team now like I did with Maddux, Dunston, Ryno, Dawson and Grace. There just isn't much character anymore.

Congrats to the Hawk!
