Cardinals Suck
#31
Most projections have him playing as well as he did last season. Bill James thinks he may outperform his power numbers from last season, though. It wouldn't be a stretch with him moving away from Oakland for a full season. CHONE expects him to decline defensively.

What does Figgins know about defensive projections?

I took a trip over to nsbb. It's amazing how many people there think this is a great contract. It's as if everything the Cubs do gets shit on and everything that the Cardinals do is perfect. That is the biggest group of self-loathing Cubs fans on the planet.

I think that Al's has been celebrating New Years a bit too hard.

Pujols leaving the Cards is feasible but it will be for a $240 + deal - somewhere in the ARod's contract land.

I can see the Cubs turn into their traditional "Also Ran" mode for that free agent chase but it would be interesting and we can dream.

We aren't getting Pujols. Even if we did, his steroid-riddled body would start to break down as soon as he put on a Cubs uni and we'd regret giving him a bajillion dollars.

Not to mention signing a 35 year old to a premium contract.

I don't want Pujols anywhere near the Cubs. That would be an epic waste of money.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->TONY LA RUSSA vowed Wednesday to put on a nice show.

He meant his Animal Rescue Foundation's 19th annual benefit gala Saturday night in Walnut Creek.

But he's as excited about another upcoming extravaganza: Mark McGwire's return to baseball, as the St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach and — get this stunning scenario — as a possible pinch-hitting slugger for a postseason run.

"If we're in contention, we'll put him on the roster Aug. 31. It's a nice little dream," said La Russa, who's managed the perennially contending Cardinals since leaving the A's after the 1995 season.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I doubt this would help the Cards, but it would allow Mcguire to gert a fresh start on the HOF ballot in five years.
I like you guys a lot.
