Cardinals Suck - savant - 01-05-2010 Seven years $120 million. Team option for year eight. Cardinals Suck - Butcher - 01-05-2010 Wow. That's an awful contract. The downside is that this pretty much makes them the clear favorites for the NL Central this year (if they weren't already). Cardinals Suck - Ace - 01-05-2010 May he become their Soriano. Cardinals Suck - cigar - 01-05-2010 Reports of full no trade clause as well. That is a bad deal no matter how you slice it. Cardinals Suck - Fella - 01-05-2010 Wow.... that's crazy. Especially considering Bay just got 4/60 or something and they are similar ages with a similar career OPS, not to mention that Holliday did the majority of his damage at Coors field. In this economy, I didn't think we would see contracts like that this off-season. Glad it was the Cardinals. Although like Butch said, for the near future it makes things tougher. Cardinals Suck - savant - 01-05-2010 This contract makes me think the Cardinals believe that Pussjewels is going to test the free agent market. That's a huge Boras win. Cardinals Suck - Andy - 01-05-2010 He turns 30 in 10 days. He'll be 37 when it ends and he's making $17 mil per. Makes ya wonder. Cardinals Suck - savant - 01-05-2010 <!--quoteo(post=74197:date=Jan 5 2010, 05:54 PM:name=Andy)-->QUOTE (Andy @ Jan 5 2010, 05:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I've heard of no competition for his services either. That's a huge Boras win.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> The only rumor I have even seen is that the Orioles were laying in the weeds hoping to be able to steal him away with a late contract offer. Cardinals Suck - Butcher - 01-05-2010 There's no way they can lock up Pujols to a long-term deal after this...right? Cardinals Suck - dk123 - 01-05-2010 That's an insanely bad contract. Cardinals Suck - cigar - 01-05-2010 <!--quoteo(post=74201:date=Jan 5 2010, 06:04 PM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Jan 5 2010, 06:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->There's no way they can lock up Pujols to a long-term deal after this...right?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> I don't know how but I think they will. St. Louis fans would burn that stadium and city down if they let Pujols leave. He is a god there. Unless they're planning on upping their payroll by a lot, I don't see how they can afford both of those guys. Unless Pujols agrees to a steep hometown discount, I can't figure it out.
