Spring Training 2010
Lou messed with Theriot's head last year...encouraging a big swing. Maybe Jaramillo gets credit for undoing that damage.

whatever he is doing different, I hope he keeps it up. Id love to see a few more doubles though.

Agree that Lou fucked up but it depends when Lou made his comments.

If it was after Aramis injury, Lou should have had issues regarding where was the 2009 Cubs power supposed to come from? Milton wasn't going to provide it. Aramis was gone. Fukudome doesn't have it. Lee still had questions marks regarding his power at the start of last year. After Aramis' injury, Lou had one "reliable" power source and that was his lead off hitter - Soriano.

Lee had 35 homers, 32 of which came after the injury. By mid-season, I'd call that reliable.

Even so, it was a disaster and should have been abandoned. I'm happy that it looks like it now may have been. The better Theriot is, the longer the pressure to bring Castro along is held at bay.

I think Theriot's not going to have much to do with their decision to bring up Castro actually. They want Theriot at 2nd with Castro at shortstop. If Fontenot and Baker stink up the joint while Castro's playing well in AAA, then they'll consider it, regardless of how Theriot's doing.

I'm quite confident Theriot will be at least solid. I just wish he could be closer to the very good hitter he was in 08. And as much crap as he gets for his defense, you can at least get by with him at shortstop.

Anyway, I don't expect Castro to have much of an impact at all this year unless those guys get hurt.

I worry about what happens if Font/Baker is solid but Theriot falls apart or gets hurt. It would be so nice if Blanco could hit.

Question, for those who heard the game on the radio yesterday.

Since A-Ram left the game about a week ago, the club has been saying that he has a sore triceps. However, Pat Hughes mentioned that he has a sore right shoulder, and repeated that a few times without mentioning the triceps muscle.

Was this a simple case of a continued misspeak my Hughes, or does he know something the club hasn't really mentioned?

I haven't heard of any issues with the shoulder (since his recovery). I'm assuming that Pat misspoke, otherwise it would be everywhere.

Triceps, shoulder, groin. Who cares, he's a little banged up like a lot of ST players are, and if it was serious, it would be a bigger story. He'll be fine.

That is my hope, but Pat doesn't usually miss things like that, and continue with the misleading information. He usually catches himself the second time around.

One thing that makes me believe that it was a misspeak though, is Rammy injured his left shoulder diving for the ball last year, and not his right. Just wondering who else heard it, and if they had any thoughts.

Looking over one report from yahoo, Ramirez got five at bats as the DH in a minor league game while recording one hit. They give the impression that he will be back in the regular lineup sometime next week.
