Jackson seems like he could be MLB ready in about a year at the most but is even going to have a spot to play by then?

Not unless we are able to find a taker for Soriano. Right now I would think that Byrd and Colvin are locked in next season.

Not unless we are able to find a taker for Soriano. Right now I would think that Byrd and Colvin are locked in next season.

I think it's time to seriously consider moving Soriano or Colvin to first for next season.

It's extremely unlikely that Jackson would start with the big league club out of spring training next year regardless of how many OFers are under contract. Assuming Fukudome is traded away sometime before the 2011 season, I would think Jackson gets a call up later in the season next year. By that point, I think Byrd could be relegated to a 4th outfielder. Along with that, I think Dirk could be right about Colvin and/or Soriano getting 1st base gloves.

Actually on that note, if we could trade Fuk, move Soriano to 1B, and get a legitimate power hitting RF, this team would start to look a whole lot better.

Soriano would be an absolute disaster at first. Ramirez and Castro alone would probably have 70 errors a season.

Sometimes, yeah. But when you've got an infield that has two guys that put half their throws in the dirt or off the bag, it's going to make a terrible defense even worse. Soriano back to the infield is an awful, awful idea.

Yeah, in theory I wish it could be done...but the thought is frightening. As I recall weren't a lot of people angry about Jackson being taken first? Not necessarily here, but in general.
