Cheap Custom Plugs

These are the kind of plugs that I use for shooting. They work great and they are not uncomfortable since they are made to fit your ear.

Shooting pictures of the band in front of a bank of amplifiers, or shooting at a gun range?
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I think he means shooting guns, which isn't exactly what I'd be looking for. I want something that attenuates evenly across the frequency spectrum so it doesn't sound muddy or muffled.

<!--quoteo(post=116740:date=Oct 8 2010, 04:55 PM:name=ColoradoCub)-->QUOTE (ColoradoCub @ Oct 8 2010, 04:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->So speaking of concerts, I saw the Melvins last night in a little club in Aspen. I was up front all night... My ears are still ringing. I really need to start wearing ear plugs to shows. I'm eventually going to wind up with tinnitus at this rate, but I hate the way they muffle the sound. Phan, do you, or anyone else for that matter, have a good recommendation for quality musical ear plugs?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

hearos are the best you can get without breaking the bank. after that the next level start at around $250.

i know i should wear earplugs but especially when I'm playing it really ruins the sound for me...they supposedly are even across the frequency spectrum but i feel it still muds up the low mid-range.

Etymotic Research makes some in the ~$10 to ~$15 range that look interesting. They're not completely flat, and appear to drop off a little at the higher frequencies, but they're the only ones that I can find that include the attenuation chart, so it's hard to compare others.

Have you heard any of their new material? I keep seeing stuff posted on Pitchfork, but haven't given any of it a chance just yet.

They said something about being able to stream the entire album on NPR.org this morning on the radio.

Cool, thanks. This sort of thing usually isn't my cup of tea, but for some reason they've grown on me over the years.

i like the new album so far...more of what you'd expect.

the show last night on the other hand was a bit of a let-down.

first of all, i forgot my skinny jeans and attitude so i was an outcast in the crowd. secondly it was at the chicago theater on a monday night so people were sitting throughout most of the show and there was just a weird vibe. Third of all they played a very underwhelming set which I guess is their style but I prefer their stuff that has a bit more of a beat to it. I will give them credit though, for a 12 piece band they can really play dynamically.

Highlights for me were boy with the arab strap, i want the world to stop (new song), and sleep the clock around. i'd be hesitant to see them anywhere that wasn't very intimate next time.

I read a review on Crawdaddy that mentioned that the new album is very mellow, bordering on 70s soft rock. Is this true?

Phan, you don't have to bracket it in code
