I don't think the powers that be are going to accept "because it makes Butcher's life miserable for two weeks out of the year". If I was in a position to do something about it Butcher, I would make an effort.
Other than that, what's the logical explanation? The only one I can think of is the fact that the record against the AL is low on the list of tie breakers. I just don't think that's a good enough reason to cease the extra revenue from Cubs/Sox games.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Here's the most logical reason from the Cubs' standpoint, and I've already mentioned it.
We play .486 baseball against the White Sox. The Cardinals play .589 baseball against the Royals. The Cardinals are our biggest rival and competition in the NL Central. We're giving them a built-in advantage every single season (however slight) by playing this retarded series.
If the extra revenue is more important than that, I don't know what to tell you.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
We lose against the Sox so we shouldn't play them? That's retarded. Here's an idea... play better against the Sox when we play them. I think that might work.
Come on Butch. We all know you hate the Sox and everything, but at least make some real points instead of this bullshit.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Hey, moron?
It isn't that the Sox beat us -- it's that the Sox are an infinitely better team than the Royals. We play the Sox. The Cards play the Royals. Do I have to make it plainer, or do you get it now?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Please make it plainer. Should we not play the Phillies or the Mets since they're good teams? We should make it so that we only play the Pirates, Reds and Nationals all year because those other teams in the N.L are just too darn good.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Holy shit.
The Cardinals and the Cubs (and all teams in the NL Central) should have as close to the same schedules as possible. When we have 6 games built in with the Sox and the Cardinals have 6 games built in with the Royals, but the same schedules otherwise, you don't see the discrepancy?
Can I make it any simpler?
Every team in the NL Central is trying to win more games than the other teams in the NL Central. That's so they can win the division and play in the playoffs. If one team has an easier schedule than the others, then it isn't fair.
