Fan tasered at Phillies game

Personally, I think the rule around baseball should be that if you run onto the field, you can expect to be beaten silly by an actual ball bat....by the players. Put it in writing. Let the games begin.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Totally. They should've tasered his mother too.

Tasering him was still excessive force. .<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->What do you feel would be the appropriate way of subduing in this given situation.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->I'd also say that any fan that runs on the field has a reasonable expectation to be tackled, as that has been what's happened since the dawn of time. I don't think a fan has a reasonable expectation to be tasered.

BTW, isn't the whole point of tasering that it's supposed to be a safe way to disable a subject who won't cooperate with the law? And isn't that exactly what this is?

The usual taser victim is pissing off one cop. This dildo was pissing off a flurry of guards, plus 25,000 patrons.
OTOH, I enjoy entertainment at a ballgame, so if I had been there, I'd have liked to have seen the guy evade capture for a little longer, gotten tackled violently to the ground, and, while kicking and biting, had 4-5 guys struggle to put cuffs on him. That's infinitely more entertaining.

But tasering is fine, too.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Appears that ESPN is devoting a good portion of the SportsCenter to this incident.

My problem is that this reporting will most likely fuel more idiots to attempt this crap.

Just want ESPN to run a loop that states something akin to: running onto a field is illegal, potentially dangerous, slows down play and will result in jail time.

Tim Kurkjian makes a point to mention the incident with Royal's Tom Gomboa. Tim mentions how the father, son involved didn't go to jail for that incident but eventually both ended up doing time for other issues. It's all about family at US Cell.

I thought I remembered that the kid got off easy because he was under 18 yet the father ended up serving some time. If that is incorrect, it is a travesty because Gamboa lost some of his hearing as a result. They should have both been executed and then ground into dust.

This last one I will link, but be aware it's NSFW as the camera has way too good of a shot of the streaker.

There is a difference between Raw and Auto Linebreak mode. I forget which one doesn't allow spacing when posting vids.

I put mine in raw. Won't the videos not come up if I put it in auto?

The moment he decided to run on the field...he lost the argument. He gets no say in what a policeman decides to do to stop him...

Taze him.

Didn't go far enough. Guy should have been chemically castrated.

the tazer is classified as a non-lethal means of subduing someone, it is not excessive it just looks bad because you go down quick. The claim that this was just a stupid non-threatening kid seaking a thrill is bogus because they have no idea what his intentions were until they brought him down. He could have had a knife in his pocket or batteries wrapped up in that towel.

This is fine with me.

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.
