spncrpatterson (SBP): In the Top 50 you said with a strong second half that Addison Russell could challenge for the top spot in the minors. Like...above Buxton?


Jason Parks on the Top 50: Yes. He's a legit shortstop (he will stick at the position; ignore others who suggest he won't) with a legit hit tool and legit power potential. Those players are extremely rare, and if he starts to put it together on the field after the hamstring injury setback, he could challenge Buxton for the top spot in the minors. This is a very high-end talent.

Alcantara is apparently being called up for 2 days because Barney is going on the paternity list.  That's probably not enough time to let him earn a chance to stay with the team.

He was 3-5 again last night with two doubles.  The guy can seriously hit.

 

 

Almora with a first inning single..hitting .462 in his last 17 games.   He's already 2-2.

If he can show a little bit more power the rest of the season, I think he should be well on his way to TN.

From recent interviews given by Theo and Jed, they've given hints that this year will be their last year of being "sellers". So the Cubs should be getting one more solid prospect from next year's draft.

 

Then it's go time, no more drafting in the top 5...I hope
