I'd like to know if I'll be watching MLB.tv or Marquee.

Since you're out of market, you'll be watching Marquee broadcasts of games on MLB.TV.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Do you think there will be any out of market option to buy Marquee as a Roku channel (for example)?

Kenney has mentioned in the past that they're going to roll out a Marquee app at some point, so would imagine that there will be the ability for out-of-market fans to subscribe to a version of the channel without live games. You would still need MLB.tv to watch the actual games, so it may not make a ton of sense unless you're desperate for more Ryan Dempster. The Cubs YouTube channel will also provide much of the same content.

I'm desperate for less Ryan Dempster.

Me too, but I'm not going to kid myself.  If they offered an app and let out-of-market viewers subscribe to everything but the games for $10 a month or something, I'd be a buyer.

My sense is that the app would be fairly affordable without the games. In-market, the full channel is reportedly being priced around $4/month for cable subscribers.

I'd guess in small part it's Sinclair, and they deserved to be booed for obvious reasons. But waaay beyond that, it's the messaging. You have a large number of fans that became fans because of WGN and the reach of that station, and the Cubs have done a terrible job of explaining why this is better. I actually do think it's much better potentially, but they haven't explained why, and worse, they're not adding payroll, if anything they're acting like they're poor and almost victims of their own deal. The average fan has, at best, seen no benefit from the move, and at worst fears he won't get to watch the games at all because his cable system doesn't have the network. They deserve the boos because they've not advocated successfully for why this is better, either because they're not good at PR, or because they signed a crappy deal. Either way, it's a bad look they need to fix asap.

Fans anger may not be directed simply at Marquee. Anger may be directed at lack of improving to 2020 squad to date. Sadly this might be one of more friendly Cubs crowds Ricketts faces
