Yeah, they let him go yesterday. Hard to believe he was there 35 years.

I saw it on his Facebook page.

Just found this article:

https://www.robertfeder.com/2020/09/04/r...o-shakeup/

"Out — effective immediately — is afternoon personality Roe Conn, whose contract runs through the end of the year. He was notified after he got off the air Friday that it was his last show.

<p style="font-size:18px;color:rgb(68,68,68);font-family:Lora, Georgia, serif;">Also out is overnight personality Nick Digilio, who also was notified Friday."

<p style="font-size:18px;color:rgb(68,68,68);font-family:Lora, Georgia, serif;">

<p style="font-size:18px;color:rgb(68,68,68);font-family:Lora, Georgia, serif;">How do they not give them at least a little notice? Also to fire them right before Labor Day seems especially heartless.

Yeah, I think he was doing movie reviews on Roy Leonard's show when he was barely out of high school in the mid 80's. His life basically revolved around WGN.

I'm pretty pissed about this. Hopefully he lands somewhere else, although I'm not sure where that would be...maybe a podcast I guess.

Was able to speak to buddy who's doing work for Marquee now after years at Comcast.

He mentioned that Marquee's staff is now as large if not larger than the old Comcast SportsNet Chicago staff.  They are using less cameras at Wrigley but have as many staff as they had in 2018.  The kickoff and rollout of Marquee was rough but they have staffed up with experienced staff so he expects operations should be good going forward.

He made mention of the plan to extensive discussions and potential rules regarding return to travelling for road games.  Mentioned how nothing will compare to the "bubble rules" at Disney complex for NBA last season.

Interestingly, The Athletic has an article on the subject today:
