How many professional MLB players have you seen dive over 1st base?

It's not that he may have beaten the throw if he touch the base, it's the headfirst dive that he performed to ensure he missed the base.

Yup, Sogard the player that the Cubs can count on to .... ?

I missed this over the weekend, and seeing it now, I literally laughed out loud.  It's the slow motion that makes it so funny.

The question Cub fans asked over the first couple of months, “Is this Cubs squad good?”

Appears to have been answered with a great month of Cubs baseball

Now, a new question, “What should Cubs do at trading deadline?”

Cubs need starting pitching but “Which starters are available?” and “At what price?” become next questions

Jesse Rogers believes that Cubs could trade off Kimbrel and still compete for NL Central

I get the logic, but I dunno. Seems kinda...half-assed, and the latter part doesn't seem entirely possible. The rest of the bullpen is (most likely) going to come back down to earth eventually, and losing Kimbrel would put all the more strain on everyone else.

It'll certainly be interesting to see if this team remains competitive, or if it was merely a hot streak.

Can our bullpen and Wisdom carry us much longer?

If we're still hovering around 1st place at the deadline, will the front office really make any meaningful trades?

I have doubts about both, but there's definitely been some fun moments to be had this season. I'm just enjoying the ride for now.

Even if the Cubs are all in we realistically need two starters, one ace like or near it, We dont have shit to give in the minor leagues. We are in a bad spot even if we want to compete, but thats just my opinion. Would be a bit easier if we didnt trade Darvish

You mean the Nats wouldn't accept Bote and Sogard straight-up for Scherzer?

And Kimbrel isn't getting traded unless we're 5 games out or more by July.

As good as our bullpen has been, we could trade Kimbrell and still be in good shape. But that's assuming the bullpen isn't smoke and mirrors...

Kimbrel provides a damn nice cushion for bullpen. Can organization afford that cushion depends on what he would bring in on a trade and expectations for remainder of season

Who gives a shit about the NL Central, you know?

Let's build a roster to compete with the best teams in MLB, that's what we've been saying for a few years now. This pen has been a surprise and with Darvish, Hendricks, Alzolay, you could make an argument they could compete but without Darvish? Really hard to see it.

I don't know what the next move should be but the goal of winning this division shouldn't be what drives it.

I'd be totally fine trading Kimbrel for low-level prospects, but that does nothing to help this team compete in 2021 or 2022 for that matter.

I think they did a good job with these. I really like the color scheme and the integration of the Chicago flag. And I *love* the hats.

The two-tone blue socks and the hat are my favorite.
