It'll be nice to see us set some records this year.
The record I think this team is eyeing first is fastest average half inning completed. By that I mean the offensive part of the inning. I should have started my watch for this past half inning that just happened. Z swung and missed 3 times. Soriano grounded out to Alexi in 2 pitches. And Babe Theriot came up first pitch hacking--to the 2nd basemen.
The other record is crappiest AVG/OBP by a leadoff man. I don't feel like looking up all time stats here, but Soriano's numbers for getting on base have to be some of the worst ever. I mean hell, this makes me yearn for the Brian McRae years.
Soriano may be able to club the ball sometimes, but he's right on par with the rest of these winners here:
Hardball Times: Worst Leadoff Hitters
Holy crap Lou. What the hell is it going to take for you to drop Soriano from the lineup? We all know you don't like Fukudome, so you drop him to 7th when he struggles. At least he is getting on close to a .400 clip. Soriano is approaching the Mendoza line in average, and the--let's call it the--Brian Hunter line in OBP and without hesitation, he's #1 all day. Did you print out lineup cards with his name permanently on them?
How pathetic.
