Final Cubs Stat Breakdown
#16
<!--quoteo(post=91511:date=Apr 21 2010, 08:15 AM:name=Andy)-->QUOTE (Andy @ Apr 21 2010, 08:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->One half of the total runs allowed have come in the 7th & 8th innings.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

This is huge. Better defense would be good...more run production protects quality starts and shitty middle relief...but this is really the biggest problem. All more runs can do is camouflage this in the Win/Loss columns. We'd still be going nuts sweating out shrinking leads in the late innings.

It could be that Lilly's return moving a good arm to the pen will be significant.

9 games scoring 4 runs or less. Disgraceful.

The Cubs are 15th in runs scored and 14th in OBP in the NL.

The team that just took 2-of-3 from us is last in both... by a wide margin.

Ok, I'm kidding myself. Everything but starting pitching and our closer is broken.

Updated through 4/22. These stats are really centered on pitching. Wonder if it would make sense to throw some batting in there?

Updated through Brewers sweep.

Key stat that still sticks out:

Runs allowed: Innings 1-6: 39
Runs allowed: Innings 7+: 41

Also from a scoring perspective, we went into the + column in run differential this series.

Odd: We've only scored 3 runs in the 6th inning thus far this season.
I got nothin'.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->RHP Josh Johnson's throwing error in the first inning Sunday was the sixth error this year by Marlins pitchers. Only the Cubs' pitchers have made more (eight).

I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

Three of those errors were on Z, correct?

So you're saying all this praise about this team is a bit premature?

Shocking.
