I can totally picture Hendry signing Lee again when his contract is up in 2011. Ugh...

Bingo.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Gonzalez, but it ain't happening. Plus, if we add players, I'd rather we kept the good ones that are actually contributing to the major league team. Prospects are another story. I'm not giving up on Soto, not yet.

i totally agree. i'd still trade him for gonzalez though.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I agree he's very valuable and difficult to replace, but for Gonzalez I'd send him away without a second thought.
In other news - the Sox are down 20-0 in the 7th inning.

They're not trading him because he's still a solid baseball player, he won't allow them to trade him to anywhere other than San Francisco most likely, and other teams aren't interested in that contract.
And he's been great at 1b this year. He's still one of the best in the league defensively.
They're not going to keep him after his contract's done.
Anyway, they shouldn't be looking to deal him and they're not going to deal him. We're not a better baseball team by just giving him away and playing Hoffpauir everyday. If Lee is struggling which he hasn't been the last month, they can go with a platoon of him and Hoffpauir. Regardless of what happens, they're going to get better than average production at first base with great defense. It's not a need right now.

The silence has been deafening around here the past 2 hours. I hope Peavy looks at the box score of today's game before he makes his final decision.

By the way, where the hell did this Gonzalez stuff start? The Padres have zero reason to trade him. He's a top-5 hitter in baseball that is only going to get better, and is not making much money.
09:$3M, 10:$4.75M, 11:$5.5M club option (no buyout)
