Arc Raiders: Best Strategies for 1v3 Combat in Multiplayer
#1
Let's be honest: stumbling into a full three-man squad when you're running solo in Arc Raiders is usually a one-way ticket back to the lobby. In a game where teams easily call out your position and pull off fast revives, relying purely on your mechanical aim won't save you. If you try to out-aim three players pulling the trigger at the same time, you will lose every single time. Winning a 1v3 fight isn't about being a human aimbot; it's about breaking down a coordinated trio into three separate 1v1 engagements. To conquer a full squad, you have to intelligently leverage information, master your positioning, and abuse movement mechanics.
Loadout & Build Preparation
Survival starts long before the first bullet flies. If you want a fighting chance against aggressive groups, you need an optimized build designed to absorb punishment and keep you mobile. Here is what you should pack before heading out:
  • Medium Shields: Do not go too light. Medium shields provide that necessary buffer to absorb an initial ambush or a stray bullet without letting your actual health pool shatter instantly.
  • Surge Shield Rechargers: These are absolute life-savers. Use them to jumpstart your shield recovery mid-fight when you only have a split second behind cover.
  • Adrenaline Stims: Essential for clutch plays. They grant 10 seconds of infinite stamina, which is exactly what you need to keep rolling, jumping, and repositioning without getting caught out of breath.
  • Light Impact & Smoke Grenades: These are cheap but highly effective utility tools. Pop a smoke to cover blind rotations, or drop a light impact grenade to punish overconfident players chasing you through a tight hallway.
  • PvP Skills: Make sure you have unlocked Agile Croucher to enable quiet flanking maneuvers, and Good As New to get faster stamina regeneration while you are actively healing.
Advanced Positioning & Environmental Tactics
Never take a fight out in the open against a full squad. When you are outnumbered, the map layout is your best teammate. You need to use the geometry of the environment to dictate the pace of the battle:
  • Exploit Hard Cover: Always anchor yourself to solid stone walls or thick concrete barriers. Soft cover might hide you for a second, but it will not protect you during reload cycles when the enemy team is spamming shots.
  • Hold the High Ground: Whenever possible, fight from an elevated position. The third-person perspective in Arc Raiders broadens your camera sightline significantly when looking down, while simultaneously compressing the enemy's field of view when they look up.
  • Maintain Distance from Corners: When you are peek-shooting around a wall, do not hug the surface. Take a few steps back. This simple spacing trick prevents your own bullets from hitting the edge of your cover and ruining your shot.
  • Utilize Hip-Fire Peeks: Quickly tap your ADS button to snap the camera, and hip-fire around a pillar. This allows you to land reliable shots while exposing only your arm and shoulder to returning fire.
Combat Execution Strategy
When a 3-man squad spots you and starts moving in, do not panic. Instead, execute a disciplined loop of isolating, finishing, and resetting. Your combat loop should look like this:
Isolate a Target ──> Thirst the Downed Player ──> Rotate & Reset Angle ──> Burst Heal
  1. Isolate the Weakest Link: Do not engage all three players at once. Wait for one player to separate from the group or over-extend ahead of their teammates. The moment they step out of line, focus everything you have to melt their shield instantly.
  2. Thirst Your Downed Kills: If you manage to down an opponent, eliminate them immediately. Unlike many other shooters where you can leave a downed player as bait, downed players in Arc Raiders can still ping your exact live location for their living teammates. You cannot afford to let them ghost-comms your position.
  3. Roll Forward to Break Tracking: When an enemy aggressively jumps you at close range, your instinct might be to roll backward. Do not do it. Instead, roll forward right past them. This forces the attacker to completely swing their camera and re-track their crosshair, giving you a split-second headshot advantage as they try to turn around.
  4. Rotate Predictably: Treat every engagement like a hit-and-run. After securing a kill or taking a chunk of damage, immediately rotate to a completely different angle. Never look out of the same window or peek the exact same corner twice. Keep them guessing where you went.
  5. Double-Up Healing: When you successfully break line of sight, combine a standard bandage with a Vita Shot or a Surge Shield Recharger. These items overlap their effects, triggering a rapid health and shield burst that can catch overconfident pushers completely off guard when they think you are still vulnerable.
