Sounds like it's Cam Smith and Paredes in the latest rumors. There will be fans pissed about Cam, but I think I'm ok with it, we've seen too many prospects not pan out. (Though of course the prospect we do trade will be the true superstar, that doubt will set in if the deal happens)
And yes, Cubs should be all over Bregman. I'm not sure how the payroll is as high as it is, that's been part of the team's problem. We don't have a true superstar, and yet have a high payroll. Having someone cheap but good at third like Paredes would be nice, but maybe that becomes Shaw. Just hope that works out better than it did with Morel.

Would assume Shaw would slot over at 2B and Nico and Bellinger/Suzuki would be dealt if we added Bregman and Tucker. That said, just don’t see any of this actually happening. Hope I’m wrong.

We're getting Tucker.
"According to a report by ESPN's Jeff Passan on Friday. Third baseman Isaac Paredes, pitcher Hayden Wesneski and third baseman Cam Smith, the Cubs' No. 7-ranked prospect, are headed to the Astros."

Bummed about Smith, but Tucker is a stud. Hope they have a shot at re-signing him.

Put my lucky green Cubs hat on a few hours ago and it worked. You're welcome.

If they don’t sign him to an extension then this trade is quite stupid.

If Cubs make it to the playoffs based on Tucker’s performance then trade “worked” even if Tucker doesn’t remain with Cubs for 2026

While I like this deal, I think ironically this maybe weakens the Cubs position in trying to deal Bellinger. They might have to eat a good bit more of his salary. I wouldn't think twice about it but it's not my money

If they are trying to win in '25, then why not keep Bellinger?
They can't stay under the luxury tax if they keep him?
I don't see them paying him 500 plus when he's a free agent.

Unless they put Busch on the bench and play Bellinger at first, that's too much money to pay Bellinger or Suzuki not to play. Seiya fits better in this lineup, but it was a little disappointing to learn he doesn't like DHing

Yeah I’m not sure why they’re going after Luzardo.
