Wins have been nice even against the lowly Sox
Cubs are 8-2 in last 10 and getting themselves mentioned in playoff hunt. They have one of the weakest remaining schedules in baseball. If they can remain healthy, continue to get strong strating pitching and real production from bottom of order, it’s feasible - not likely but feasible. Hope the team simply focuses on one game at a time rather than playoff hunt. Roster still lacks upside talent but is playing better baseball - even if they have to scratch out a couple wins from worst team in baseball

It's always more fun to watch when they're competitive. Fangraphs has them at just under a 10% chance of making the playoffs. But it's going to be tough to leapfrog so many teams. The Padres, Diamondbacks, and Braves are all much more likely to hold their spots.
But...there's still a chance (insert Dumb and Dumber GIF)...

Nothing like going from playing one of the worst team’s in baseball history - and barely beating them for 2 games - then getting swept by one of the best teams in baseball to make certain that fans understand that this roster needs more offensive threats

Games 1 and 2 were still winnable and Game 1 should've absolutely been a win. The Guards are clearly a better team, but I'm not sure this specific series says much about the difference between the Cubs and Guards. Other than the fact that they have a real closer and we don't.

Would say the Guardians have a closer and more complete bullpen and an offense that produces in “clutch” situations. Too bad that stat heads don’t believe in “clutch-ness”.
Cubs have better starters but ability to score or scratch out a run is sorely lacking for this roster. Seemed like Gomes, Tauchman, Morel, and Happ seemed to provide ability that last season. Despite bringing back the vast majority of 2023 roster, other than Bellinger and occasionally Happ, this years roster misses that ability

Went to the game today. Beautiful weather. Dansby had an incredibly forgettable day at the plate. Oof.

Barely paying attention, but I’ve enjoyed following the transformation of the bullpen. Curious who/if any top prospects get promoted in September.

Nico oppo HR by Suzuki to tie up game 2-2.
Jones and Skenes have been a great starting duo for Pirates
