2024 Gameday Catchall
Finally some runs. Our biggest inning in 2.5 weeks. Maybe this will light a fire of some sort under their asses.

Only this Cubs team - take a no hitter in the 8th inning, the Cubs win game 6-3 - burning through 5 pitchers after Brown’s 7 innings of no no so …

Cubs win

Cubs win

Cubs win

Our situational hitting remains atrocious. They could've possibly avoided extra innings if in 9th, with Morel on 2B and nobody out, Happ can just make contact and hit the ball to the right side of the field. Instead he strikes out looking. I have absolutely no confidence in this offense to convert a runner on 2B with nobody out into a run. It was nice to see them break out in the 10th, but good god -- up until that point it was just more of the same.

Cubs avg with RISP was crazy good in April till early May then took an absolute dump in last few weeks. Believe Cubs went from 2nd of 3rd in MLB in the first month to 6 weeks of season and dead last in MLB so believe it’s around avg in MLB currently. Just nuts

But agree and turned off watching Happ hit with bases loaded last night knowing it was wasting my time and Cubs opportunity

Would it be too much to ask to split this series?

Probably.

This team is so fucking soft. No backbone. No leadership. No heart. 11-20 in their last 31 games.

I think Hoyer is going to owe Rossy a big fat apology at the end of the season. Counsell is a fine manager, but he isn’t going to magically add 5 wins to this roster.

I’ll be taking a week off from watching this trainwreck for my own mental health. We’ll see if they can right the ship during the home stand against some trash opponents.

It’s Friday afternoon, off to the bleachers

Time for the Cubs to cease that depressing low scoring offense and start to generate runs consistently. No need to mention bullpen but starting pitching has been a good surprise this season. Go Cubs

I just read the recap. Good lord.

Remember when it was taken for granted that Busch and Morel were future studs and Wisdom was no longer discussed. Well, times change. Specially, when Cubs were losing 5-0 to held scoreless by Sox through 4 innings with Shota only giving up 1 ER

Cubs win
Cubs win
Cubs win

Yup, the Sox are that bad

Thank god for the rain because it was clear that the offense wasn't doing jack shit against Cy Flexen.

Wisdom has always destroyed LHP -- pinch hitting him there was a good move (but it was also the obvious move). Glad it worked out. Hard to get too excited about beating a team as historically awful as the White Sox, but holy shit it would've been embarrassing to lose that game.

At least we can barely beat the god awful White Sox. That would've been exceptionally embarrassing to lose both those games.

Losing those games (which was very much possible) may have signaled the end to me paying any attention to this team in 2024. They’re hanging on by a thread as-is.

Down by a run in the 9th, men on 1st and 3rd - Happ who typically kills at this ballpark fouls out and Tauchman grounds out to first. Feels like it’s an appropriate ending of the season in freaking June

Cubs suck

Rays walk off win. Scoring 4 runs in 9th
