Now the NYPost’s Jon Heyman has Correa signing with Mets for 12 years $315 MM

If accurate, will be interesting to see what Giants do in response and how Correa deals with third base. Mets have over 1/2 billion invested in left side of infield with spending $800 MM this off-season.

Pretty much every owner could spend like this if they wanted to, including the Ricketts.

Wow. Now it looks like the Giants ownership just got cold feet and the Mets swooped in and grabbed him. Giants fans have gotta be furious.

If I had to guess, I bet there is a legit concern on the part of the Giants, I don't buy the cold feet thing. Maybe that played a small role, or actual reporting will come to say otherwise, but the fact that Boris was so quick to strike a deal with the Mets in the middle of the night, and that Carlos was so quick to take it despite it being lower and forcing him to change position, says something. Giants fans will certainly be pissed, but they may have dodged a bullet.

Good points. I have a good friend who is a Giants fan and he's furious right now. But I told him the same thing -- this could end up being a blessing in disguise.

Fuck the Giants. I mean, it's not like I'm loving what the Mets are doing but I am loving that the Giants are getting their offseason ripped out from under them.

My bet is that he stays relatively healthy for the next few years, that his body is fine. I have no idea why the GM pulled the plug.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Ohtani a Giant next year.

I love what the Mets are doing. Nearly every owner in baseball could spend like this if they wanted to and still turn a profit. Owning a sports franchise should be considered a sacred trust. Millions of people are emotionally invested in these teams and they shouldn’t be run like a business. If you don’t want to spend on your team you should sell it to another billionaire who will.

Sharma says Cubs close to signing Barnhart. Knew that was coming.
