Quantum of Solace

I was very disappointed in this. The action was so over the top that in some instances I expected Jason Statham to jump onscreen and duke it out with Bond. WTF?

The dialogue was very thin, and can honestly say that I'm now upset that 007 has changed directions. I loved Casino Royale, and thought Craig had some promise as Bond, but I think the writers (Paul Haggis in particular is a megalomaniac hack IMO) are losing it, and they should be flogged and sent away immediately.

2 stars out of 5.

I like it a little better than you Rok. I thought it was entertaining. It wasn't great, and it definitely didn't compare to Casino Royal, but I had a fun time watching it. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

I was disappointed in the choice of Bond women. They weren't nearly as good looking as I would expect from a Bond movie.

It isn't that I didn't enjoy it, but it didn't feel like a Bond movie, more like a trumped up B action movie.

This movie was crap. The story was badly written as it tended to jump around and didn't really make much sense, the action scenes were few and what there was was not all that impressive, some characters served no purpose whatsoever, and there weren't any gadgets of any kind. Not only was this bad for a Bond movie, but it was poor movie as a whole. I give it 1.5 stars.

Absolutely. I don't know what they were thinking, but I think the producers need to go back to the days when it took 5 years between each Bond movie. They seemed to have rushed into this one.

I haven't seen it, but my brother told me that he's a meaner, dirtier Bond in this one -- not all that suave like he used to be. Now he just goes around shooting people and dropping them off buildings.

Does that sound right? If so, they need to get back on track.

Yes, he's become too much of an action star and a cold-blooded killer, not the smooth operator he once was. This sucks too, because I like Craig, but the writing is just terrible. Changing direction to make the story grittier and modern is fine, but when you turn Bond into the Transporter, I think it's time to take a step back and reevaluate what the character is supposed to be about. Haggis is a douche for what he's done to this franchise.

Yeah, I mean they didn't even play the theme music until the credits, he never introduces himself as Bond, James Bond, and he only sleeps with one girl!

SPOILER - I did like that they're bringing SPECTRE back, even if they've changed the name to QUANTUM.

I liked Quantum of Solace but they definitely took the Bond series in a totally new direction. I think what I liked most about it was how they examined the dark nature of being a spy. Not suave and refined. Just for that reason I give the movie a 4 out of 5. As a James Bond addition I could see a fan knocking off a star. This movie has little to no writing though. Hopefully the next one will shed a bit more light and value to this movie in that department.
