Orlando's going to be an everyday starter so then Fontenot would only play a few times a month, and the Miles signing would really not make sense. He CAN play a few positions, but he's a second baseman.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

*If* Fontenot could play adequate SS, then it would make some sense. I'm assuming Miles and Fontenot could also back up the corner OF spots in a pinch. Ironically, the guy signing O-Dog might make obsolete is Joey Gathright. That's weird.

Miles will probably get some time in LF but Fontenot's never played there in the majors and only twice in the minors.

True, a Hudson signing would mean Gathright's out of the roster. But hey, it's not like we're dying for him to make the team, it's not like we payed him big money or anything, get his ass on the minors and I wouldn't give a crap. Miles, on the other hand, is a different story, we payed him something like 4 million (not sure) and you don't keep a guy you signed for that money out of the roster.

I say bring Hudson, fuck Gathright. Hell, bring Hudson, fuck everybody!

I don't see how signing Hudson would have anything to do with Gathright. He is going to be the 5th OF no matter who we sign for our open infielder spot.

That's why it's ironic. Again, this is a long string of if's - if it pushes Fontenot into a utility role and covering short, and if Miles then gets pushed into covering the corner outfield spots in a pinch, then why have another outfielder? Reed Johnson isn't going anywhere, and he can cover them all. Gathright becomes superfluous.

The Cards released Adam Kennedy. I'm thinking Orlando ends up there.

Listening to ESPN Radio out of St. Louis today and it sounds like 2nd base is Skip's to lose.

The Cards have spent absolutely no money this off-season. That new stadium must be killing them. Hell they have not even started on the "vaunted" ballpark village and it may never get built. I can not help but giggle a little bit though.

One day last spring...I was down at the Mayo Clinic...on account o' someone was trying to steal my pancreas...and I ain't havin' that shit.

On the way down in the elevator, Shelly and I came across a Cardinals fan...on account o'...you know...the Mayo will take anyone.

So...he says something about the Cubs having a good season, and I said something...you know...amiable-like...on account o' I'm a good soul.

Then...he gots off the elevator and the door close...and I said...under my breath...on account o' I'm decently raised...SKIP SCHUMACHER CAN SUCK MY DICK.

Because he can.
