I'm about a day away from cancelling my MLB.tv subscription...which would mean I wouldn't be watching the Cubs anymore.

Probably also worth noting that if you are diametrically opposed to people and entities that donate money to Republicans, a team owned by the Ricketts family may not be the one for you.

Obviously, even if they get the donation back, it still raises some uncomfortable questions. As for the Ricketts...yeah that's a tricky one for me. At least we've got Laura...

 

I guess the owner of the Giants is a massive douchebag which has gotta be a tricky situation for SF fans/residents being a liberal stronghold.

I believe they asked for a refund because their lobbyist didn't attend an event and McConnell asked them to instead donate it to her.

I don't object to a person (Tom Ricketts) donating to things I don't support, in the same way I object the league (or the Cubs organization) doing so. It's a fine line to parse, but there's a difference.

I think there is a difference between making it seem like you're angry about donating to any Republican, and donating to one who proudly went to a white's only school.

I’m a fan of teams - not team’s nor league’s ownership.


Does the money I spend supporting teams end up supporting causes or organizations that I don’t agree with or even find offensive? Unfortunately, probably.


Will understanding ownership/league political views cease me from spending my resources supporting their teams? If I’m already a fan, probably not.


Could that change? If ownerships’ views or support for causes were defining the team or just outlandish, I would hope my support would reduce.
