MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I know most of you won't ever come in contact with a crossbow, so this matters little, but crossbows are no joke.  The draw weight on those are really high.  You do not want anything in the way of the string when it's released.

I got nothin'.

All the more reason Wood should have considered delaying the Chewbacca cosplay until retirement.

This is such a weird story:

"Jake Peavy Picks Up Pieces of Shattered Life"

Biggest take away for me, he bought a team of 16 and unders bottles of champagne to celebrate a state title.

Seems like a bit of a douche.

Yeah. It's weird when an article is supposed to make you sympathetic toward someone and yet a bunch of the details get in the way.

Nothing seems about it. He is the epitome of doucheness. Add a White Sox uniform and AJ Cuntzynski kneeling 60ft away, he goes from a douche to a weapons grade bell end.

He's best buds with Toby Keith and Kid Rock. That's all you need to know to gauge his douche status. I struggle to feel sorry for him at all. So he lost a few $ mil in a Ponzi scheme. Smarten up hillbilly.

Someone stole 20 of his 130 million?

I sure hope he can put his life back together.

With all this talk about the CBT (luxury tax) hurting free agency and causing a rift between the MLBPA and owners/executives, it still appears that the QO is hurting non-elite free agents the most. Only 3/9 free agents who received a QO have signed this far.

Tampa Bay Rays trade pitcher Jake Odorizzi to Minnesota Twins for infield prospect Jermaine Palacios.

The 21-year-old Palacios has a .290 career average over four minor league seasons. He finished last year with Class A Fort Myers.

Glad another arm not going to Milwaukee.

Yeah, but Odorizzi is pretty meh. Hopefully they don't trade for Archer (not likely), or sign Jake.

Padres sign Hosmer to 8 year deal with opt out after 5. The front loaded deal appears to be worth $144 MM. The deals first 5 years have AAV of at least $20 MM according to multiple sources.

Starting to see more front-loaded deals now. Interesting that initial reports were that he was offered that same total $ amount but only 7 years.
