1917 he was.
It's on his tombstone. It's done him so much good, you didn't even know he'd won a WS. (I don't know if it's on his tombstone.)

As Im bored shitless while caring for a sick dog, here some significant differences between the cases:
- the 2017 Astros won the World Series. The 1919 White Sox lost - the Astros team cheated to get into the playoffs and potentially win them. The 1919 White Sox cheated to lose games/Series - Astros 2017 team was a fairly young team with some but little playoff experience. The 1919 White Sox were an older veteran team which as you pointed out had recently won the Series in 1917. - Astros roster filled 6 All Star spots in 2019 (yeah, at least a couple were not on the 2017 roster) The team represents some of the best players in baseball who will most likely continue making baseball news for years. Havent seen a player from that 1919 White Sox roster in a box score lately. - Finally, MLBs investigation into the Astros has resulted in management personnel being banned from baseball while the White Sox scandal resulted in players being banned Overall, the Astros might be remembered as team that cheated to win - or simply World Series Champions - while the White Sox are, and always will be, just plain losers

'Hang up on him': Aubrey Huff goes on radio show, gets kicked off
"What I wanted was the opportunity today to bring you on the show so we could at least hear your side and now I'm realizing what a mistake that was," Fortenbaugh said. "It seems like you have no remorse for any of it and I'm not saying you should, your political views are yours ... but when people get outraged about the things you say when you talk about kidnapping Iranian women, it seems you don't even bother to try and understand the other side when you want them to understand your side." "You sound upset, my friend," Huff said. "Absolutely, it's extraordinarily offensive listening to you," Fortenbaugh responded. "I can completely understand why the Giants would want nothing to do with you. It's a shame because we came on today wanting to see your point of view. I came on today thinking, 'You know what, maybe this guy, just because it's the Bay Area, they're going too hard on him. That maybe they lean a little too left here and and he's getting a bad deal.' And now I'm regretting bringing you on because I'm thinking to myself, 'You know what, he's exactly the turd he makes himself out to be on social media.'" When Huff tried to protest, Fortenbaugh said, "Hang up on him, we're done," and ended the segment. https://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/Au...065284.php

Good on the Giants for doing the right thing. I hope the BBWAA keeps that in mind as Curt Schilling's percentage keeps increasing.

Doesn't it seem like the Red Sox should eventually get around to hiring a manager?

Fair enough. I knew Roenicke was interim manager, but I thought that was just because he had been bench coach and they hadn't named a full-time manager yet. I missed that he is expected to have interim removed from his title after the investigation is complete (I assume to ensure that he is not named in it).

Eno Sarris ranks all the MLB ballparks by their craft beer offerings. No surprise that Wrigley ranks pretty poorly at #23. Probably deserves to be even further down the list to be honest.
