MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
You feel me, brah.

Hmmm. Hmmm.

<cough> steroids, PEDs <cough>

Not a more effective liar. More blatant. Sure. Not more effective

Effective in the sense that he didn't sound different lying than telling the truth. Manfred the Wonder Dog sounds like a kid who totally didn't get PAINT on the garage FLOOR.

Effective in that he got away with his casual deceptions for almost 2 decades.

You’ve believed that owners and MLB weren’t aware of PED use by players?

My assumption was that players were using whatever they thought helped and could get away with while owners/MLB simply didn’t want evidence of ‘cheating’ but needed baseball revived.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

I know the options are limited, and I'm not overly sad about this, but I'm nervous throwing in Morrow untested in as closer especially given his wear and tear.

Which prospect(s) do Cubs give up this July for closer?

Davis was a stud for the Cubs.  Wouldn't want to give him the big contract but playoffs demonstrated how critical he was to the 2017 Cubs.

That's really not a bad deal for the Rockies. Don't like the AAV but short contract length makes it palatable.

He was critical because the rest of the pen was garbage.  I still think it's been upgraded this year.

It absolutely is a better pen in aggregate. Hopefully Morrow takes the closer role and holds onto it.

I'd really like to see what kind of steps Maples can take this year.  I think he has the opportunity to become an elite reliever.

Definitely want to see us give Maples a shot out of ST--if he can dial in his control, he could be great for us.

I was really hoping we'd have a closer so Morrow could live in the 8th--that would make our pen an actual strength in my eyes-- for once in a long while.

Sure looks like we are going to ask Morrow to be our closer--if he can't handle that role I guess we go with Edwards.  It sure has felt different the last few years with Chapman and Davis holding down that spot.  Too bad we couldn't hold onto either of them.

As far as Davis goes...I can totally see that man living in Colorado.  At least he's not with the Cards---that was worst case scenario for me.

At what point does it become fan fiction?
