MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I think it's 50-50.

Serious question. Who would you guys prefer be traded from the core?

What constitutes the core? Cuz depending on how narrow the "core" is, my answer might be no one.

I honestly don't see how or why.

The core would be Rizzo, KB, Javy and Contreras. Do you see the FO doing anything meaningful this offseason without one of the above being traded first? Payroll isn't going up.

I really didn't think Ross would be hired as manager.

So I don't really trust what I think regarding this FO right now.

Since returns are expected to include prospects to help reload farm system, trading anyone appears to equate with a less talented team for 2020 coupled with a closing competitive window for remaining core.

Damn, was worried there as I almost forgot the ‘every season is sacred’ mantra

Yeah, that was my guess at what you meant by "core." Then my answer is none. I don't see how trading any would make the Cubs better either this year or for the foreseeable future. Maybe Contreras if you can get someone to overpay.

I guess I'm not as pessimistic about the Cubs' prospects this year as most.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Oh man, that's the only good news so far this offseason.

Ryu to Blue Jays 4 years $80 MM

He’s out of the NL. Was concerned a NL Central team would sign him

Surprised the Sox didn't.

Not a big believer in his abilities to sustain his recent success, but good for him.

Yeah, this past year felt like a serious fluke.
