Bauer is 1-5 in seven starts with an 8.23 ERA for the Reds - so not only is the guy a terrible person he also cant pitch. Yeah, the one win was against the Cubs during which he went 7 innings and gave up 1 run. Yup, a terrible person

Good thing he couldn't beat us when it really mattered.

Can't wait for when he hits free agency. Doubt he will follow through on his plan to bet on himself and accept only 1-year contracts for the rest of his career, but if he keeps pitching this way, he may not have a choice in the matter.

It's crazy that you can get fired less than a year after winning the World Series. That's mind boggling.

Sounds like he didn't have many allies in the FO or ownership. Very strange.

The "who will replace Dombrowski?" articles are already hitting the interwebs. Anyone think Hoyer or McLeod will be under consideration?

All valid points, but I guess it also depends on the direction these teams are going in and whether the Cubs are about to go through their own reckoning as well. Also, unless I'm mistaken no one in the Cubs current FO is signed beyond 2021, so it isn't as if job security is a certainty here either. Boston still has a really nice core and tons of resources, so I doubt there will be a lack of interest out there. Hoyer is definitely more of a longshot, but I think McLeod is a possibility.

Theo speculation is hilarious. I see no way in hell he goes back, I don't give a shit if it's his hometown.

He should step away immediately to crystalize that for the record books. Will he be the first HOF manager with a losing record?
