MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
I like Chavez, but I'm not terribly upset about this.  Seems a prime candidate to return this year and be awful.

Yeah, and Ace is being his usual overdramatic self about it. Losing out on a 35 year old reliever coming off a good month or two seems like the end of the world to a lot of meatheads on Twitter.

I suppose I would have preferred to keep him, but he pitched out of his skull with the Cubs last season. There's no repeating that.

Yeah, would have liked him to return but not at $4mil per year. Plus, he would have been a prime target for Maddon's overuse, so even if he didn't end up regressing, would likely be injured by June.

So, is the new take that the Cubs are not being allowed to spend this offseason because they didn't sign Chavez?  Seriously?

Or couldn't re-sign him because the FO wants to bring back Russell for $4.5mil. Apparently some people on Twitter are clairvoyant.

Even Mooney making the insinuation.  You're smarter than that.

It's a bit odd-looking, but I hope this new ballpark happens in Oakland. Very green. Also like the proposed re-development of the Coliseum as a community park.

That looks pretty sweet. Whether or not they can pull it off, who knows. But it would be nice if they did something to make the A's a viable franchise.

Those look like Hobbit holes all along the roof top

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Can a 34,000 capacity stadium work in MLB?

So the Mets are pretending to be big players again?

And they'll have opportunity to flip Diaz at trading deadline to a contender for a decent return when they find themselves under 500 in July

It wasn't so long ago that the Mets were supposed to be contenders every season along with the Cubs. That sure died a quick death.
