MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Awesome...another year of Bartolo Colon trying to hit in the National League. His at-bats crack me up.

I just want to drink beer and play atari

This caught my eye in the Sunday Notes on Fangraphs:

I really wanted Fukudome to do well. Glad he found his groove again back home

Saw a tweet yesterday that everyone's favorite ex-Cub reliever Brian Schlitter signed with a team in Japan. He cut his beautiful locks too.

Wouldn't be shocked to see McCutchen traded over the offseason. Wonder what his value is after a sub-par season though.

Quote:The Pirates held trade talks over the summer involving center fielder Andrew McCutchen, the longtime face of the franchise, and GM Neal Huntington has continued to field inquiries on the 30-year-old. Regarding the interested teams, Huntington told the Associated Press after the GM meetings, "They recognize that we haven't been averse to moving guys as their contract nears expiration. It's a part of how we believe we need to do things to continue to be competitive and continue to give ourselves a shot to win." McCutchen has a maximum of two years left on his contract, including a $14.5MM club option in 2018.

Given his contract, he'd still bring a ton in return.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Yeah, that's a very reasonable option year too. Wonder if teams still view him as a CF, although his bat plays as a corner OF as well.

I don't think he will return completely to his previous form, but I certainly wouldn't bet against him.

He has a negative career Defensive WAR...I thought he was good out there?

If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

No, no. He's good down there.

Quote:MLB Network is beginning to air Ken Burns' Baseball again tonight in case anyone wants to rematch it...or (*gasps*) hasn't already seen this masterpiece of a documentary series.

Thanks for the heads up.  Watching it (missed first one).  Haven't seen it in a while...so freaking good.

Pretty awesome when they are talking about 1908 and Mordecai and the Cubs and Cobb's Tigers and how Chicago hadn't won another WS since that one.

My favorite episode is the Gettysburg one.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

I need to take the time to watch that. I know it was on Netflix for a while, not sure if it still is. I started watching and then got involved in other things, but now I need to wet my baseball appetite over the winter, this could do it.
